RECORDINGS: COMPLETE

At 11 PM last night, we completed all the vocal recordings for "THE MEDIUM" album. We began recording this album shortly after the release of "the HI'S AND LO'S EP" which is still available (right here on this blog). I'm feeling pretty accomplished for getting the lyrics finished, and I gotta mention this new album is HEAT. We haven't revealed anything yet, but we plan on hitting yall with a mixtape with a few exclusive sneak-listens at some cuts off the joint... I'm sure yall have seen this digital flyer floating around...

New Material...

So I've been on a mission to find new sample material for the rest of the "MEDIUM." Being a digger, I like to take my time and let the records come to me naturally. Yesterday I got a call from the homey Bobby Quevedo. He is one of the elite vendors for Beat Swapmeet and is known in the game for carrying nothing but heat. Today I strolled over to the Buena Park record show to see what he had.

I came up on some titles that I already had but it never hurts to have more than one of course...I came across some shit I've never seen before too. Here is a peek:

The Medium is about 85% done. With only 2 more songs to go, BP goes back to the source for new inspiration. The location will remain disclosed but for all those heads that know the deal about this spot, here is a little insight about where the music ends up. 90% of BP's vinyl collection was accumulated here. On morning trip to find some goods, BP will be working these relics into the 4th quarter of the Medium...

RAKIM and "The Seventh Seal"

I read this interview on billboard.com and this is what Rakim said about his new album set to drop in fall.

"The seals are from the Bible- Revelations and the coming of the Apocalypse. But Islam, Judaism, Christianity: all have a version of the same events. The Lion of Judah breaks the seven seals one by one, each imparting knowledge and inflicting catastrophe, ending with seven trumpets announcing the end of Times. I've always tried to insert consciousness and spirituality in my records, interpreting the writings of all cultures and religions and how they apply to life in modern times."

WISE INTELLIGENT falsely arrested

A very influential MC to me, Wise Intelligent of the Poor Righteous Teachers was falsely arrested on July 8th. Here's a part of Wise Intelligent's story he told on his blog...

"Driving down Chestnut St. (One block from my gate), I stop at the light. This is when Diamond - a friend, good brother and Hip Hop/reggae drummer for many established and local artist, myself included - jogs over to the car. He asks me "what's up", said he hadn't seen me around in a while, I tell him "my numbers still the same, give me a holla!" He reaches into the car window we shake hands, in the usual long drawn-out way brothers do, he walks off, the light turns green I pull off."

This is how the story starts. He then goes on to explain in detail Trenton cops pulling him over thinking he was a drug dealer. But once the punk ass cops figured out he wasn't a drug-dealer, they looked for a reason... This is what Wise Intelligent said on his blog...

"Please understand me. I can accept being pulled over because the officer suspected I may have been trafficking, selling or distributing drugs. However, at the moment it is realized that's not the case, send me on my way..you don't even have to apologize! But, don't, after discovering you were wrong, treat me like I am in effect a "drug dealer" who just happened to outwit you this time!"

WHAT TO EXPECT

peace.
summer's here and I just wanted to give a brief update on what you could expect from BP & ODDS without giving too much away.

lately, we've been staying underground in the Bassment; building to complete the upcoming full-length LP which you can expect by summer's end. (check back for the official release date)
and I'm not one to brag about music I've made, but these new songs are definitely some shit, to put it bluntly.

Meanwhile, we'll keep you updated with blog entries, exclusive clips, maybe some behind-the-scenes type shit documenting the making of the album, and you gotta stay tuned for our feature announcements... that's right some possible features

also, BP & ODDS shows will be less frequent until we drop the LP (we'll keep the title under wraps for now) so make sure when you see BP & ODDS on the flier, BE THERE and catch the new live show.
